DescriptionThis 2-day seminar consists of didactic lectures in the mornings and hands-on laboratories in the afternoons. It covers closed and open tooth extraction, techniques of jaw fracture repair, repair of palate defects, and management of oral tumors. Extraction of select teeth, mandibular fracture repair, traumatic cleft palate repair, and rostral mandibulectomy will be practiced on cadaver material.
Target Group:This seminar is intended to attract veterinarians that want to fine-tune their tooth extraction technique and add a few other, commonly performed, procedures to their repertoire of oral surgery skills.

Dr. Alexander Reiter graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, Austria in 1996. He completed a dentistry and oral surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in 2000 and became a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College and European Veterinary Dental College in 2001. Dr. Reiter’s clinical and research interests include dental and oral disease epidemiology, advanced periodontal surgery, bone grafting procedures, oral and maxillofacial surgery (trauma and oncology), palate surgery and palatal prosthetics, mandibular and maxillofacial reconstruction, microsurgery (free microvascular tissue transfer), oral manifestation of systemic disease, and systemic manifestation of oral disease.
